casey is taking japanese in highschool. never have i seen him even remotely interested in his classes. but japanese--wow--he calls me at work to tell me what he did in class! he's gone mad. he keeps babbling at me in japanese around the house. i am so happy to see how this class has captured his interest. they have a teaching assistant from japan. she showed them how to make miso soup and rice balls on friday.

so today he insisted we go to the japanese grocery store and get bonito broth, nori for the rice and green tea ice cream. both were delicious--he made the rice balls himself (he never cooks. he has gone mad. you must believe me). and before we left the store, he snuck in a melon ice cream bar. and, you know it--pocky. i only had one strawberry one ( i am trying not to be a pocky pig). it was good.

ever since the trick-or-treaters decided not to show and all the chocolate was put in the freezer, i can't stop freezing things chocolatey . . . or closely related!

(Kyodo) _ U.S. investment fund Steel Partners has emerged as the biggest shareholder of leading Japanese confectioner Ezaki Glico Co. with a 12.45 percent stake, according to a report submitted Friday by the fund to the Finance Ministry.

The U.S. fund, known in Japan for its past hostile takeover bids in the country, said in its report to the ministry's Kanto Local Finance Bureau that it has raised its stake in Ezaki Glico for "pure investment."

According to the report, Steel Partners acquired a 5.21 percent stake in Ezaki Glico in July and started to buy more shares in the Osaka-based company in late October. On Thursday, it purchased as many as 9 million more shares, bringing the total number of Ezaki Glico shares it holds to some 18 million.

The U.S. fund became known among Japanese investors in 2003 by launching hostile takeover bids for two Japanese companies, Yushiro Chemical Industry Co. and fabric dyer-finisher Sotoh Co.

what is a man to do when he craves the pocky but needs to feel cocky?

a true mans man wouldn't be caught dead with a strawberry n'cream pocky stick jutting out of his overtly starched dress shirt? So the poor creature meanders through the aisles desperately aiming to avoid the pocky centre of the universe, where his inner femme might leak out onto the brightly and beautifully ordained packages of pocky.

But every day he is drawn in by the addictive angelic presence of pocky and salivates lustily. His cart strewn with HAKAYA Beer (for men) and frozen beef hearts which he thaws in his arm pits before munching. And he neglects his need to lick his way down the sweet creamy hydrogenated oils into the thin flacky crust that is pocky.

Pocky needs a high gloss black packaging so sharp it will cut you when you caress its edges. the pocky so hard and thrusting that you crunch your way down, so tough they alternate as drumsticks which the mans man can bang upon his engorged member.

the manhood will be restored, the pocky streamlined, the world a safer place.

did i mention I got four hours of sleep last night and I'm oh so gender conscious....ha ha

Almond mocha something and maybe strawberry? I can't remember. One for my father, one for me. "Samurai" discount market a little north of Canal St, Manahattoe.

I bought so much stuff, they gave me a free packet of tissues with the name on the wrapper. hee!

yes it does, not only does pocky act as the world's strongest adhesive whhen melted down and allowed to reharden, but it is the thread that holds together the fabric of my emotional well-being.
I moved to SF last night and today I sat in my room all day not knowinig what to do with myself. Is something wrong? Am I confused, Scared? No, I didn't think so, but I knew something was off. I got in the car and wandered to foggy grid that is the sunset district until I fouond the missing link, The Sunset Super Market, a glowing tower of Asian grocery.
Oh man! THey got so much Pocky, for a fraction of its usual price. Fuckin, banana, the famed Pocky G, berry Pocky G, and the fouor star gormet Pocky with those special chocolate shavings. So special that the letters are gold embossed.
and way,
I got that, seseme milk popcicles, udon and ramen, and yogloo.
I am the happiest...
oh wait! this just in, Pocky G is hollow!
i got to go, the implications of hollow is too much to ....

so-a, is it oriental or asian market. do i sound like a dick if i say oriental?
someone broke it down fo me like this: rugs, motivs, flavor packets, and delicious treats are oriental
and people are asian.
if you say a person is oriental, you're a dick pretty much and i agree.
but a pear is asian.
i may just eradicate oriental from my lexicon and stick to asian, no hard consonants and it has more than one 'a' which is my favorite vowel.

sitting here in Houston tonight and it is raining and raining and raining....I was going to take the train downtown tonight and go to one of the asian markets and stockup...but the storm blew a tree over onto the cables that power the trains and they're not running.....we knew this light-rail thing would be a waste of taxpayer money from the get-go...they should have spent it on Pocky and we all would be happy to stay home.

ok. i hate to admit how weak i am but this tribe triggered me. i was swimming around in my box (which is what sharkpups do all day) when i was accosted by visions of pocky..
so. on the way home i dropped in to the pocky dispensary. i was dazzled by the beauty of them. i took my hoard with me and checked out only to realize that i should drop in to the store across the street to get nag champa while in the neighbourhood.
dingle. dingle. dingle. dangled the door chimes as i entered the establishment. i got my purchase and placed my bag of pockys on the counter. the salesgirl and i chatted about how nag champa is a stable and i had the sudden urge to proclaim "yes! it is! what more do you need? oh. and i have pocky too!"
she gasped.....ooooo....i love pocky! she said.
then she asks, "have you ever tried men's pocky?"
i admitted that i had seen men's pocky but didn't dare buy them as i am a girl.
we bonded. and yes. i offered her one. a coconut milk pocky.
she was thrilled. she unwrapped the box. we each took one and clanged them together in the air (gently of course). then ate them.
we smiled.
"what a nice treat" she says "today is my 3rd month anniversary for quitting smoking. so i really deserve this!"
i agreed. took my purchase and pockys and left.
"down with tobacco companies!" she shouted as i walked out the door.
